Novato is Marin County’s northern-most city. It has an extensive history with Native American culture, and proudly celebrates this heritage at two distinct sites: Olompali State Park and the Marin Museum of the American Indian. Novato is also home to the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center, where there are over 50 stores! The “Old Town” area houses long-established small shops and restaurants that reminisce of an earlier time in Novato’s history. One downtown street, Grant Avenue, has been recently restored—attracting an assortment of both local and out-of-town visitors alike. The city is also known for its unique Bel Marin Keys waterfront community, as well as the Marin Country Club Golf Course.
