Fairfax is home to Marin County’s night life. This small city boasts a lively downtown area with quite a few boutiques and shops–reflecting a feel that is unique to the neighborhood. Fairfax is very diverse, and there is a large push to go “green” by the local population. One town ordinance, in fact, sets Fairfax apart from other cities in Marin: chain stores are prevented from using take-out Styrofoam food packaging and plastic bags altogether. Fairfax hosts annual community events including the June Fairfax Festival, children’s Easter Egg hunt and reoccurring family-style barbecues. Fairfax is also home to one of California’s nicest golf courses, the Meadow Club.
